We are asked many times to recommend the right products for certain labelling projects.

Our website is laid out in such a way that allows the user to choose label materials by categories separated by the two printing processes available for desktop and more sophisticated printers.

First and foremost it is important to know which type of printer you have.

Do you have a laser printer or an inkjet printer?

You can easily tell this in several ways.

There will be a badge on the front of your printer with the model name and number.

If the model name has LaserJet mentioned you have a laser printer.

If the model name has Officejet, Deskjet or Bubble jet means you have an inkjet printer.

If your printer specifications mention ink tanks, ink cartridges and nozzle purging then you have an inkjet printer.

If your printer specifications mention toner cartridges you have a laser printer.

You can also search the web using your printer’s model number. Check the front, top panel or look for the printer’s barcode to find it. Both places should include enough information to point you in the right direction.

Therefore, the biggest differences between inkjet and laser printers are that an inkjet printer obviously uses ink cartridges. They are suitable for low volume printing and are the choice of home users as they have a low purchase price usually.

Laser printers use toner cartridges and are ideal for higher volume printing and are mostly preferred in office settings.

When it comes to printing, it’s important to know your printer type. That information is also crucial when ordering supplies, operating your printer, and maintaining it.

Once you have determined which type of printer you have, we can then look at which types of label material we can use.

The next thing we need to decide is do we need to use a paper-based product or a synthetic material.

Laser printer Paper based materials:

Paper-based label materials are usually used for indoor uses, although they are commonly used in despatch and transport labels, on envelopes, satchels, cartons and pallets.

Laser printer Poly laser or synthetic based materials:

Synthetic or plastic based labels are for outdoor and harsh environmental uses like chemical and liquid container labels such as oils and applications where heat, moisture and spillage of the contents can occur.

Our synthetic choices are limited to laser printing only and are available in white or clear materials.

Inkjet printer suitable materials:

Our inkjet printable products are available in:

• Matt white laser and inkjet paper
• Gloss white paper
• White multi inkjet and laser vinyl. 
• Fluorescent
• Coloured labels

Our Matt white paper labels can be printed by both Laser and inkjet printers.

As previously mentioned, they are commonly used in despatch and transport labels, on envelopes, satchels, cartons and pallets.
